Try this riddle to figure out our theme for next week!
I am the author of many books.

So celebrate with a cheer!

Love Monster
We had so much fun making our very own Love Monsters this week to go with our book Love Monster. Our Love Monsters are full of our speech goal words or concepts to practice at home next week. Check out some of our happy and sad monsters, the book we read this week, and try answering these questions.
- Why was Love Monster sad?
- Where did Love Monster live?
- What happened to make Love Monster happy?

Treasure Map at Home
I found this great resource that gives directions on how to make your very own treasure map. This is a great way to incorporate those basic concept vocabulary words - in, on, under, between, beside, behind.
My suggestion is to make a treasure map of your house with a hidden treasure in one of the rooms.
First, hide the treasure. Next, make a map of your house and as you draw the map try to name three different things that you find in each room. For example, in the bedroom, I can find a bed, a closet, and a pillow. Then, help a family member read the map to find the treasure. If they need help, you can give them ideas of where to look like "look beside the lamp" or "look under the table."

Help Computer Activity
For all of my students targeting core vocabulary, try this link for a doctor game. The students can use "help" to help the bear who is sick while they offer him different tools. Click HERE for the link.
Would You Rather - Valentine's Day
One activity we are using this week is Would You Rather questions with a Valentine's Day theme. I am sharing a copy of these questions for you to ask your family and friends at home. Click HERE for a link to the document for printing or see the picture of the file below.
These questions can be a great way to practice speech sounds regardless of the level you are on. I suggest cutting up pieces of paper and numbering them from 1-20. Then, draw a number out of a cup and ask that corresponding question.

- WORD and SENTENCE level - highlight words that have your sound and practice those OR practice one of your speech words/sentence the same number of times as on the piece of paper you draw
- READING level - highlight words that have your speech sound and read those sentences
- CONVERSATION level - as you discuss your decision, use your best speech to respond in conversation
Theme for the Week of February 8th
Hey guys! Instead of our typical riddle to determine the theme of the week, try to figure out the meaning behind this idiom (the underlined words) that relates to our theme of the week.
I have a SWEET TOOTH. I ate so many sweets I had a belly ache.
Go Panthers!
Last week was one of my favorite weeks in speech! As many of you already know, I love football and the Panthers. Learning more about the Super Bowl was lots of fun.
Check out our winning predictions for the Super Bowl and see a picture of the cool props we used to take pictures. The student with the closest score prediction will receive a special prize this week. Also, I hope to send home the student's pictures with their props later this week.
Although my Carolina Panthers did not win the Super Bowl, it was a great game and I am ready for next season. Keep Pounding!
